More of what our members have to say:

“The Lyceum Institute has significantly impacted my intellectual life by providing a communal environment for liberal education. The Lyceum is guided by strong values and sound educational principles, as clearly outlined in their Founding Declaration. Grounded in the best of the Classical Philosophical tradition, they offer an unparalleled environment for both innovative and recursive approaches to studying language and philosophy. Their Trivium courses in grammar, logic, and rhetoric are exceptional. I’m excited to delve into their vast, orderly seminars and classical language courses. The Lyceum Institute is a vibrant community that fosters intellectual growth and will undoubtedly prove to be an invaluable part of my development.”

“The Institute’s words of wisdom have been a constant source of comfort and guidance. Like a beacon of truth, they shine brightly, an illumination onward driving. Particularly those words of Dr. Kemple: “Nobody arrives at the Lyceum coming from exactly the same place as any other. Our members range quite widely, from the wholly uninitiated—with virtually no formal education whatsoever—to the PhD. We can all learn from one another: truth reveals itself without discrimination, though it is grasped only by those with humility.” These words have become my daily mantra, reminding me that the struggles I face are not unique and that the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom is a shared endeavor… I have come to realize that truth reveals itself to those who approach with humility, regardless of their station or stature… Remarkably, I have felt a profound transformation within myself in the short time I have been at the Lyceum, and I eagerly anticipate the future growth and discoveries that lie ahead.”

“Imagine Socrates, Aristotle and Plato were your friends who visit with you once a week to discuss ideas that matter.  Add to that a few other people from around the globe on three different continents and even some laughs and you have the Lyceum Institute.  The discussions inspire you to share new insights at work, home and friends to broaden their knowledge of critical thinking, signs & wonders, their purpose on earth and the love of wisdom.  The courses, seminars, and other programs span a broad array of topics and let you follow and participate at your own pace while maintaining a sense of community and challenging your intellectual curiosity.”

Beyond the University

Twelve people: that is how many faculty teach for the Lyceum Institute. In a world of billions, it is a very small number. But as history attests, twelve people can make profound and lasting changes in the world. Our faculty teach philosophy, languages, the Trivium, and more. They guide students in asking questions that matter, preserve the things worth remembering, and demonstrate the order of an intellectual life. In every seminar and every course, they show that education is not just preparation for life, but rather a fuller way of living.

This fall (from October 15 through 31 December), we are seeking to raise $48,000—enough to provide each of our faculty with a modest stipend of $4,000. These stipends are not salaries (which we hope to provide through our Endowment, which you can learn about here), but signs of gratitude and support for the dedication that makes the Lyceum Institute possible. Your gift does not prop up buildings or bureaucracy but sustains our people in the noble task of educating.

By giving today, you share in their work. Your contribution helps build a community where habits of thinking are not only taught, but lived.

Join us in bringing new life to education!

Donors who give $4,000+ will receive a special gift.
